Artisan craftsmanship means these brands are producing product while preserving traditional techniques, artisan methods and ideas that have been used for centuries. It also celebrates handmade items that require true dedication and mastery on the part of the maker. If you haven’t noticed, we’re suckers for a good story and love when the details tell a narrative of their own.
FEMALE FOUNDED
We're all about supporting the women around us and promoting the growth of female-owned companies. Not only because we love working with women, and our business is built on relationships, but it's better for everyone. According to analysis by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) if women and men around the world participated equally as entrepreneurs, global GDP could ultimately rise by approximately 3% to 6%, boosting the global economy by $2.5 trillion to $5 trillion.
BIPOC OWNED
No longer a passive value of ours, we proactively seek BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) founders to bring inclusiveness to our brand base. Not only do we want to provide a platform for a diverse group of founders, but we want our customers to experience creativity and innovation from all perspectives.
LOCAL TO MA
We're from here, and have two stores here, so this one's for you New Englanders. There's just something about knowing an idea was born and brought to life right down the street that makes us giddy inside. It never gets old to say, "This designer lives right in the Seaport!" and hear back from a customer, "Oh wow, Really?!" (adds to cart)
MADE IN THE USA
An accolade we tip our hat to that promotes a healthy local economy, lowers the carbon footprint in most cases, strengthens national employment levels and guarantees that employees are treated and compensated fairly. We do acknowledge, however, that manufacturing isn’t one-size fits all and sometimes it makes more sense to produce closer to the source of where fabric is made and where the craftsmanship lives.
THOUGHTFUL MATERIALS
When hundreds of plastic bottles are saved from a landfill to make your new favorite top? Winning. A eucalyptus pulp dress, sure - no problem. Organic cotton t-shirts? Definitely. Scrap leather turned into favorite slides? It’s a yes for us. Our brands are on a mission to repurpose existing materials and respect virgin resources.
