Description

In 1948, a man named José Reyes changed what a basket could be. He added a lid to a traditional lightship basket, adorned the top with decorative ivory, and created what's Now known as the Friendship Basket.

Nantucket's first 'it girl' bag was carried on cobblestone streets long before Instagram existed. Legend has it that the Friendship Basket earned its name when two women spotted each other carrying their Reyes bags in Paris and became friends For life. We believe it. That's just the magic of Nantucket.

In collaboration with The ACK Sack and Nantucket Historical Association, this special bag is an homage to a basket Reyes made by hand in 1961. It's on display at Hadwen House—and Now, you can carry a piece of the history.

Available in-store, a portion of every sale benefits the Nantucket Historical Association, so the story gets told For Ever.
